Copenhagen Food News (October 2020) Openings, Events & Pop-Ups

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we’ve gotta learn to roll with the punches. Chefs and business owners have had to adapt to constantly changing rules and restrictions from the government. Masks are now required in restaurants, there’s a 10:00 pm curfew, a limited number of guests, and social distancing between tables. But Corona can’t keep this passionate food city down! Chefs are adapting to the new reality, and we diners need to adapt to it too. If you want your favorite restaurants to still be around next year, you need to support them today. So, let’s make lunching out a thing! And who says you can’t have a drink in the afternoon? Let’s party (responsibly) like it’s 2020! Restaurants and bars are fighting for their lives and need our support. Keep reading to see a list of the exciting new openings, events, and pop-ups happening this month in Copenhagen.

Alouette’s New Restaurant – The Atelier

What do you do when the curfew and government restrictions cut your seating in half? You open a new restaurant, of course! That’s what Alouette did, at least, with the addition of “The Atelier.” It’s the same menu and the same set up as the existing restaurant, in a new part of the building that previously housed the design studio for the furniture company Københavns Møbelsnedkeri. Sources are reporting that the cozy, workshop space, “feels like a modernist two Michelin-star restaurant in San Sebastian, and it ABSOLUTELY SLAPS!” All we know is, if Alouette’s signature sauce is there, we’re there. Amass – Fried Chicken Sandwich

You’ve probably been munching on Amass’ buttermilk fried chicken all summer, but have you tried their brand new fried chicken sandwich?! All of our comfort food dreams have come true – the fried chicken comes on a brioche beer bun, with lemon and black pepper mayo, and vinegar powder. It’s permanently on the menu now, alongside the return of some other classics, like the fermented potato biscuit with honey butter. Their new, expanded menu also includes fried chicken and brown butter waffles (!!) – we haven’t had a chance to try these yet and we are feeling major #FOMO, so see you this weekend at Amass? Let’s go sit in the garden while we still can, and drink to a summer we’ll never forget. Open Tuesday-Saturday from 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

VinSuperNaturel – New Store

The world-renowned wine sabering champs at VinSuperNaturel have moved their natural wine shop just a block up the road (Gammel Kongevej 41). It’s a much bigger space than before, but it’s still painted hot pink inside so you will feel right at home. Of course, the selection of bottles is as epic as before!

  • Where does the picture at the top of this post come from? It looks delicious – I’m getting hungry 🙃

    • Sorry, editing my own comment. I thought you were commenting on our latest news for November. The header photo here is from Amass, specifically their casual spot Amass Fried Chicken next door. This was called «dirty bird» and was a whole fried chicken covered in a creamy bechamel sauce. It’s currently not on their menu sadly, but try their fried chicken sandwich! Had one 5 mins ago. 😄
