RUMORS & FOOD NEWS – AUGUST 2024 Copenhagen is still in a bit of a summer vacay mode, but the city is slowly waking up again. Recently, Norange Coffee, an espresso bar and coffee roastery opened in Sankt Hans Torv. Plus, there are lots of openings on the horizon! Bar Vitrine is slated to open on Møntergade at the start of September. (Read our full review on The Hungries forum, and get all the details about the new space!) Nickie Mydung of Lua will be opening Chiba, an Indo-Chinese dim sum restaurant, in October in Vesterbro. Donda announced that their original location on Christianshavn will become BIBI, an Indian/Sri Lankan seafood restaurant, at the start of 2025. Donda Deli in Vesterbro will remain South American-inspired.
And so much is happening in Oslo these days! A colorful new natural wine bar, Båbler, has opened in the former Naughty Neon shop. Nud Dudhia (Breddos, Løkka Deli) continues the expansion of his restaurant empire, with a second location of Doug's in Bjørvika, as well as the announcement of the opening of a new concept: Pao – Thai BBQ and bar. Pao's "flagship location" is opening in Olaf Ryes Plass this summer – apparently with more locations to follow. Speaking of rapid expansion, Babbo Collective is opening a new bakery, Frida, in Torshov later this month. They've also hinted at two new concepts which will open soon: Pasta Baby and Antidote.
In Stockholm, popular Cantonese spot LU in Malmö has expanded with a location in Sweden's capital. Meanwhile in Malmö, Casual Street Food has opened Casual Bakery, serving bagel sandwiches.
