RUMORS & FOOD NEWS – MARCH 2024

The fastelavnsboller storm is behind us, and Scandinavians are once again settling into a normal rhythm.

In Copenhagen, new restaurants abound. Calma just opened on Jægersborggade, from a team who collectively have worked at Formel B, Kong Hans Kælder, and Levi. Chef Christoffer Brink returned to Copenhagen, where he will take over the kitchen at Sans Souci. The concept will remain a casual French bistro, with smørrebrød for lunch. In other restaurant news, reservations for Alchemist (April-June) were just released. Didn't snag one? We still have lots of seats left on The Hungries forum!

In Oslo, the Nektar Vinbar team is opening a new restaurant in a former massage parlor, aptly named Happy Ending. The opening date is March 6th. Apparently, they will serve food until midnight on weekdays, and 2 am on weekends.

In Stockholm, Petter Johansson and his partner Sanna Risberg, both formerly of Frantzén, have announced that their restaurant, Ergo, will open in May in the old Gastrologik space. We're looking forward to their return to the fine dining scene!

We are expanding The Hungries team with new Community Leaders around the world. In addition to our monthly events in Copenhagen and Oslo, we've added new Community Leaders in Malmö, Slovenia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles! This means we'll be having more Hungries events around the world in 2024. And we won't stop there... stay tuned to see which other cities we are launching events in this year!

COPENHAGEN EVENTS

The Copenhagen crowd is keeping busy this spring. On March 9th, they'll be some of the first to try Paesàno, the new Neapolitan concept from Davide Laudato. On April 12th, they'll enjoy a non-alcoholic cocktail tasting at The Union Local, and on April 13th, they're joining forces for a potluck dinner. Finally, on April 27th, they'll take over the dining room at Jatak, for a Michelin-starred meal with extra dishes from the test kitchen!

MALMÖ EVENTS

Our first Malmö event of the year will take place on March 3rd. Join The Hungries for a cocktail class at our favorite bar in Malmö, Care/Of. Learn some cocktail history and how to make built, shaken, and stirred drinks. The next Malmö event will be on May 4th – more info coming this week on the forum.

OSLO EVENTS

In Oslo, The Hungries are headed to the new restaurant Dumpling AS on March 7th for a FIRST LOOK at the new spot from the team who started Hitchhiker and The Golden Chimp. In April, we heard rumors of a doughnut-baking class... head to the forum to read more!

But it's not just a Scandinavia club! Our Slovenia crowd is having their first event together on March 9th: a first look at Tabar 2.0 followed by dinner at Dapper. The first San Francisco event is taking place on March 8th: a family-style feast at Rich Table. Last but not least, Los Angeles Hungries have been invited to a Lunar New Year dumpling party at Paradise Dynasty – FOR FREE! (Still spots left – grab them on the Discord forum!)
