100 Unique Experiences in Oslo My First Contribution to a Book

The book Oslo. 100 unike opplevelser is a new travel guide published by Kagge Forlag. Author Karianne Bjellås Gilje knows the city better than most people, and shares her top 100 unique experiences in Oslo, along with a few contributing writers. This is my first contribution to a book, and I am very proud to be part of it. Whether you are a tourist visiting or you actually live here, this book is for you. Save NOK 44 and use this link to buy the book for only NOK 305. Regular price is NOK 349, so that’s 12,5% discount. For your information, I receive no kickback or similar from sales.

I look forward to many mornings with good coffee and this book

I was asked to contribute with two recommendations in the book as well as a few pictures. Other contributors to the 100 unique experiences in Oslo are my friend and food writer Andreas Viestad, artist Don Martin, comedian Harald Eia, musician Lars Lillo-Stenberg, the Stakkars Oss bloggers, alpine ski racer Kjetil André Aamodt, and author Åsne Seierstad to name a few. I am honored to be in such great company.

My chapter on restaurants Maaemo and Kontrast

My recommendations in the book were of Maaemo and Kontrast. Ironically, both of those restaurants got another star in the Michelin Guide after the book was printed. At least I touched upon the subject! Other topics besides food and drinks covered in the book are nightlife, art and culture, shopping, nice places, active in Oslo, discover the city and out of the city. I am impressed how many places Gilje have managed to experience, and realize how much more there is for me to discover in Oslo still!

This picture is of chef Even Ramsvik plating oysters and was shot by me at Fuglen for a special event

Most of the photographs are shot by Karianne’s husband Øystein Gilje, but with some exceptions. My picture of Even Ramsvik plating oysters at Fuglen was used as the main photo for the Eating & Drinking section. They’ve also used one of my pictures from Smalhans. Restaurants covered in the book, which you can also read about on my site so far are: Smalhans, Pjoltergeist, Maaemo, Kontrast, Handwerk, Delicatessen, Statholdergaarden, Territoriet, and Himkok.

The launch party for the book will be at Sentralen tonight. Will you be there?

  • Takk for i går! Det var veldig hyggelig at du tok turen og koselig å hilse på deg. Lover å gi lyd hvis jeg får nys om hvor man kan få kjøpe en Comandante-kvern. Sikkert flere som lurer på det. 🙂 Hilsen Charlotte
