Thai food is one of our all-time favorite cuisines. We’ve traveled to Thailand many times, eating street food in Bangkok and exploring night markets in Phuket. We’ve tried all the local specialties and feasted on all the noodles, curries, papaya salads, and mango sticky rice we could get our hands on. We’ve developed a deep love and appreciation for the flavors of Thai cooking. At home, we try to recreate those dishes in our own kitchen, but we’re always on the hunt for the best Thai food in the Nordics, whether it’s a casual local spot or a fine dining experience.

If you’ve ever wondered which Thai restaurants are worth seeking out, Thai SELECT is a great place to start. This government-backed certification, issued by Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, helps diners identify authentic Thai restaurants around the world. It’s a stamp of approval that the food reflects the true flavors of Thailand, served with warmth and hospitality.

In 2025, Thai SELECT launched a major rebranding initiative aimed at raising the bar and the global profile of the program. A new star system was introduced, ranking restaurants from one to three stars, with more rigorous criteria focusing on food quality, presentation, atmosphere, service, hygiene, chef expertise, and ingredient sourcing. The goal is to give diners a guide they can trust, whether they’re looking for a casual weeknight meal or a special occasion spot.

Only six restaurants worldwide currently hold the highest honor, three stars, and two of them are in the Nordics. In this guide, we’ll take you through the full list of Thai SELECT restaurants in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, from laid-back street food joints to fine dining gems.
