Located at St. Hanshaugen in Oslo, Rouleur is a newly-opened combined wine bar and bike repair shop. The old venue used to host a comic book thrift shop. You can get coffee, beer, wine, cocktails, and some simple bar snacks here. It’s a well-known phenomenon that coffee and cycling go hand in hand. The coffee bar Supreme Roastworks has for a long time been a gathering place for bike lovers in Oslo, both amateur and professional cyclists. I’m not sure exactly how well cycling and wine-drinking combine, but at least you can have a glass of wine here while your bike is fixed.
Rouleur is the perfect pre-dinner drink spot before your dinner at Smalhans. It’s also an alternative to other wine bars like Territoriet and Bar Lardo, especially if St. Hanshaugen is your neighborhood. I fell in love with Rouleur this winter because of the interior design of the place and the ambiance. They even have a fireplace you can sit next to! Not ideal for the wine’s temperature, but that just means you have to drink faster. Rouleur offers a nice selection of wines, mostly classic ones, but also a few natural wines. The main point of improvement, in my opinion, would be to get a Coravin. That way they could offer a lot more than the eight or ten different glasses they have on the menu today. The wine list is heavily dominated by French wines, which means you are likely to experience French wine celebrations like Beaujolais Nouveau Day at Rouleur. Naturally, classic French bicycle races like Tour de France and Paris-Roubaix also calls for an event here.
I don’t have a bike at the moment, but now there’s certainly no excuse not to get one anymore. Rouleur offers a variety of bike repair services. They’ll gladly do a check of your bike for free to give it a diagnosis. From that point on they can do the smallest services, like a quick wash or lube the bicycle chain, as well as bigger and more time-consuming tasks. If you are handy they actually offer you to just rent the workshop for a given time to either clean or repair your own bike. For the proper bicycle geeks, Rouleur does special events with different bike-related topics like “how to build your own bike.”

Haven’t been. Will definitely go next time I’m in Oslo! I think it’s definitely difficult to beat Territoriet (compared to any wine bar in Europe), but Bar Lardo for a more relaxed atmosphere. Pjolter for matching great wine and fun.
Love that Gamay is getting its deserved glory in Oslo these days!
I like the concept. This place looks so great to chill. For me this is so typical from the North of Europe 😉
Ye, very typical. Let’s grab a glass here when you are in Oslo 😉
