Spring has finally sprung in Copenhagen. The cherry blossoms are blooming, the sun is shining, and people are drinking wine outside by the canals once again. Even the ice cream shops have reopened for the season! It’s been a long winter, but Copenhagen’s best days are ahead of us now – so bring on the spring! Danish Coffee Festival – April 29th-May 1st

This weekend, the Specialty Coffee Association of Denmark is hosting their annual Danish Coffee Festival, a three-day fair devoted to specialty coffee. The events kick off on Friday, April 29th and finish on Sunday, May 1st, serving all the coffee you can drink from local Danish roasters as well as international roasters like Talormade and Morgon Coffee Roasters. There is also a free party on Saturday evening hosted by GRØD and Oatly. Click here to buy tickets.

Grønt Marked – May 1st and May 15th

On the first Sunday of every month (from May until December), you’ll find the city’s biggest farmer’s market, Grønt Marked, pop up on Refshaleøen. Shop organic vegetables, ciders, kombuchas, kimchi, ferments, and so much more. Now, the market also has expanded to Nørrebro – find your favorite farmers at Guldberg Byplads next to Rondo on the third Sunday of every month as well.

Pancho, Nacho, and Mauro x Il Buco – May 2nd

Three chefs are taking over the kitchen at Il Buco on May 2nd for an unforgettable lunch. You might know Mauro Siega and Pancho Cardenas from Kadeau, and maybe you’ve seen Nacho Domenech at Noma. Contento – May 5th

Opening on May 5th is Contento, a Basque-style pintxos bar from Mathias Silberbauer. The bar is located on Jægersborggade in Nørrebro right next to his other restaurant, Silberbauers Bistro. On the menu, you’ll find traditional tapas, like the Spanish tortilla, txistorra (a chorizo-like sausage), the Gilda (a San Sebastian signature snack with peppers, olives, and anchovies), and, of course, the Basque cheesecake.

George Motz x Gasoline Grill – May 5th and 6th

American burger legend George Motz is gracing Gasoline Grill with his presence (and his iconic grilled onion smash burgers) in the first week of May. Find him at the Carlsberg Byen location on Thursday, May 5th and at the Brøens Gadekøkken location on Friday, May 6th, both days from 14:00 until sold out.

Øens Have – May 6th

The Refshaleøen summer oasis, Øens Have, reopens for the season on May 6th. On this Friday, there will be an hour of free gin and tonics and snacks to celebrate the opening. This urban farm and organic eatery serves seasonal dishes in their yurts located in the midst of their vegetable garden. Click here to book a table.

Værnedamsvej Spring Market – May 7th

On three days a year, Værnedamsvej closes for traffic and becomes an outdoor market. The spring market will take place on May 7th, on Værnedamsvej and Tullinsgade in Vesterbro from 9:00 until 17:00. Independent vendors and shops will have booths set up on the street.

Lamar – May 9th

A new restaurant from the team behind Omar and Safari will open on May 9th. Lamar is located by Det Ny Teater (The New Theater) in Vesterbro, in the former venue of French bistro Chez Bruno. Click here to book a table.

Restaurant Mark – May 9th

Opening on May 9th is Restaurant Mark, a luxury bistro from chef Bendix Sixhøj Laursen (formerly of Radio) and the Madkastellet restaurant group. The restaurant manager will be Gin Isabel and the restaurant is located at Axeltorv 3. Click here to book a table.

Fundraiser for Displaced Persons – May 9th

On Monday, May 9th, there will be a fundraiser at Rouge Oysters to raise money for people in need. There will be an assortment of food and drinks for sale, and100% of proceeds will benefit World Central Kitchen, Bevar Ukraine, and Sea Watch, organizations whose work is supporting displaced people.

Caribbean Housewife Roast – May 11th

The Caribbean Housewife Roast returns on May 11th at the Kitchen Collective on Slagtehusgade 11A. These pop-ups are held on the second Wednesday of every month in Kødbyen and feature a four-course menu alongside a pairing showcasing female natural winemakers. Click here to book a table.

Balthazar Chef’s Social Hours – May 12th

Thomas Pasfall (Restaurant Pasfall, Odense) and Jakob De Neergaard (Marchal) are teaming up to host a social hour party at Balthazar. Drop by between 18:00 and 20:00 for some pre-dinner snacks and Champagne. The food is free, the drinks are not. Click the post below for reservation information.

The Cookie Aisle – May 15th

Copenhagen’s best cookies are not found in one of the city’s best bakeries, but in a pop-up from Helen Fodnæss. This American/Norwegian home baker churns out a few varieties of American-style cookies; our favorites are “the original” (chocolate chip with roasted hazelnut) and the “snickerdoodle riff” (with brown butter and cinnamon). Álvaro de Juan Sánchez x Nacho Domenech  – May 16th

Chefs Álvaro de Juan Sánchez and Nacho Domenech of Noma are hosting a Spanish pop-up at Øens Have on May 16th. They will serve a menu with twelve servings including tapas, Txuleta steak, and Basque cheesecake, for 500 DKK per person. Click here to book a table.

Yuna Kim Korean Pop-Up – May 23rd

If you’re craving corn dogs, kimchi fries, fried chicken, and other Korean snacks, head to BRUS on Monday, May 23rd for a pop-up from Yuna Kim. Walk-in only, from 16:00 until sold out.

Cook It Raw Pop-Up – May 25th

On Wednesday, May 25th, Alessandro Porcelli (the founder of Cook it Raw) will take over the kitchen at kōnā. His five-course tasting menu will cost 650 DKK per person, and will draw inspiration from Japanese and Italian cuisines. Click here to book a table.

Janice – End of May

Opening in the end of May in the Vesterbro neighborhood of Copenhagen is Janice, from Marc Van Hauen (former assistant restaurant manager of Uformel) and Frede Madsen (former chef at Pluto, Gorilla, No. 2, and Uformel). Janice is a small wine bar and restaurant serving a mix of natural and classic wines from importers like Osterreich Vin, Lieu Dit, Rosforth & Rosforth, Pétillant. On the menu will be small, seasonal plates with inspiration from all over the world.

Studio Pop-Up at Tivoli – April 20th-June 27th
